After that, return to the original position and repeat this exercise 5 more times with a break of 15 seconds between each time.

3. Pontoon posture (Naukasana)

This yoga pose attacks the body fat at the waist and helps strengthen the muscles in the legs and back.

How to perform this exercise?

Lie down on your back with the legs together but stretched out and your arms at your side, facing downward. Take breathe and start to raise your legs but keep them straight (do not bend the knees). Then you should outwardly stretch the foot and toes and try to raise your legs as high as possible. While in this position, lift your arms in an attempt to reach your toes in order to create a 45-degree angle with your body. You should stay in this position for 15 seconds. Perform this exercise 5 more times with a break of 15 seconds between each repetition.0000

Make sure that your hands are flat on the ground and your fingers are spread apart. Stay in this position for 30 seconds but for better results. You should repeat this exercise 5 more times with a break of 15 seconds after each turn.

NOTE: Do not perform this exercise pose if you have high blood pressure or any shoulder or back injuries.

If you add strawberries to your smoothie or eat them as a quick snack, make sure they are organic. An Environmental Working Group analysis of 48 fruits and veggies has shown that strawberries are the most contaminated with pesticides.  They even beat out apples and staggering 98% of the samples contained as least one pesticide residue.

You are probably taken aback by the fact that conventionally grown produce may be filled with pesticides, but there are many variances in the levels of different crops.

Eating Strawberries Could Expose You to Dozens of Pesticides

The average Americans eats about eight pounds of strawberries annually, “and with them, dozens of pesticides, including chemicals that have been linked to cancer and reproductive damage or are banned in Europe,” EWG’s Bill Walker and Sonya Lunder said.

EWG used data from the USDAA, which found that strawberries tested in 2009 and 2014 contained 6 different pesticides per sample compared to less than two per sample for other produce.

According to California data, up to 300 pounds of pesticides were applied to each acre of strawberries, which makes these crops pesticide-intensive.

U.S. Pesticide Tolerance Limits Are Too Lenient

Most of the tested samples fell within the limits for pesticides residues. For example, only 5 samples surpassed the tolerance level set by the EPA.

Sadly, only because pesticide levels fall below this level doesn’t guarantee they are safe. As noted by EWG,

“Some liken pesticide tolerances to a 500 m.p.h. speed limit. If the rules of the road are so loose that it’s impossible to violate them, then nobody can feel safe.”

For example, there isn’t any limit on the number of different pesticides allowed on food products. The effects of these chemicals are still unclear, but the concern is justified.

The tolerance levels fail to take into consideration recent studies showing those chemicals to be toxic at low levels. In CHAMACOS Study, children born in an angricultural mecca in California were studied through age 12 to analyze the effect the pesticides had on their development. Mother`s exposure to organophosphate was linked to:

  • Lower IQ and poorer cognitive functioning in children
  • Shorter duration of pregnancy
  • Poorer neonatal reflexes
  • Increased risk of attention problems in children

Gluphosate is the most commonly used agricultural chemical. The problem is that it is not known how much of it may be used in food as the USDA doesn’t test for it. In February 2016 the FDA has announced that it might start testing foods for this chemical.
