The uric acid crystals are created by purines, compounds which are naturally found in wine, aged cheese, shellfish, mushrooms, and organ meat. They accumulate in the joints and contribute to the development of gout. They may also accumulate in the kidneys and lead to a formation of kidney stones. Due to the fact that they are sharp, these crystals cause inflammation in the surrounding tissues and cause intense pain.
Luckily, there are certain herbs which can dissolve these crystals and reduce the uric acid levels in the bloodstream.
1. Sour Black Cherries
As stated in “Biochemistry of Human Nutrition”, black cherries and cherry juice are very potent natural remedies when it comes to treating gout and kidney stones. They are effective, in reducing the uric acid levels in the serum and dissolving the crystals in joints and kidney stones.
Cherries contain an enzyme which neutralizes uric acid and they also have potent alkalizing properties. According to Advanced Nutrition: Macronutrients, Micronutrients and Metabolism, cherries are abundant in anthocyanins which act as antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent, which in turn soothes the gout symptoms.
It is recommended to consume ¼ dozen -2 dozen cherries daily in order to prevent gout attacks.
2. Burdock Root
The burdock root has been widely used as an alternative remedy against various types of arthritis, including the acute gout attack. It is recommended to consume 20-30 drops of burdock root tincture mixed with 8 oz of water, 3-4 times daily. Consume this tincture for a few days.
3. Alfalfa Sprouts

4. Fresh Lemon Juice

5. Devil`s Claw
This herb is abundant in substances which reduce uric acid levels in the blood. It is widely used as natural remedy for numerous arthritis symptoms, including gout.
In case of gout, take about 500-700 mg of Devil`s claw, three times a day.
