1. Activated Charcoal
It comes in capsule form and it can be found in stores next to supplements and vitamins. It is used to treat food poisoning, cleanse out toxins, and even whiten the teeth.
You can dip the head of the toothbrush in activated charcoal powder, brush the teeth and rinse with water, or mix some water and activated charcoal powder to make a paste and apply it on the teeth. Of course, rinse with water afterwards.
2. Baking Soda & Hydrogen Peroxide Paste
Mix a few tablespoons of baking soda with hydrogen peroxide to create a paste. Apply onto the teeth and wait a few minutes. Don’t scrub the teeth too hard so that you don’t wear down the enamel. Hydrogen peroxide is known for its antibacterial properties that keep the mouth and gums healthy and clean.
3. Oil Pulling
Take a tablespoon of coconut oil and swirl it around in the mouth for about twenty minutes. This simple trick will help you get rid of the toxins, reduce gum inflammation, prevent tooth decay, and whiten the teeth.
Note: Make sure to spit out the coconut oil!
Just like with powders above, you want to make a paste. You can use either melted coconut or water to make the paste, apply it to the teeth, and wait for 3 minutes. Rinse well afterwards and brush the teeth with the toothpaste you normally use.
5. Apple Cider Vinegar
Given that vinegar is highly acidic, dilute it with water prior use. It is recommended to mix a teaspoon of ACV with a cup of water and gargle the solution for a couple of seconds, just like you would do with a store-bought mouthwash.
6. Strawberry Salt and Baking Soda
This paste is ideal for those who find the taste of the previous ones unpleasant. All you have to do is to mix one or two strawberries with half a teaspoon of baking soda and apply to the teeth. Wait for 5 minutes and rinse well afterwards.
7. Avoid Dark Pigmented Foods
Avoid food like soy sauce, marinara sauce, coffee, and anything that contains artificial coloring! Regular consumption of these foods is what causes the teeth to stain.
8. Eat Raw, Crunchy Fruits, and Veggies
Eating crunchy and raw foods helps whiten the teeth as these scrub them as you chew. They are typically higher in water than other fruits and vegetables, which stimulate the saliva to flush away food particles and protect against further damage.
