Colon cleansing is something that people have practiced ever since ancient Greece. In the USA, it became very popular during the 1920s. Colon cleansing is very important because it allows us to get rid of undigested meat and other foods which create mucus that produces toxins and poisons the body. Accumulation of toxins leads to fatigue, headaches, weight gain, and low energy levels, but in the long term, an excess of toxins can cause some very serious health problems.
When it comes to colon cleansing based on vegetables and fruits, it is very important to choose ingredients that are rich in fiber, vitamins and minerals. For instance, you should always consider apple when you want to perform a colon cleanse due to its high content of soluble fiber that will help you stay full longer and help with loose stools. Apples also contain insoluble fiber that is needed to relieve constipation.
In addition to apples, flaxseeds are another great option for your colon cleanse. Their large amount of dietary fiber will help improve intestinal absorption of nutrients. Flaxseeds are also full of vitamins B1, B3, B5, and B6, as well as magnesium, phosphorus, zinc, iron, potassium, calcium, and Omega-3 fatty acids. According to many studies, the high nutrient content of flaxseeds can help prevent cardiovascular diseases and reduce the risk of developing a colon cancer.
We can also add chia to our colon cleansing recipe due to the huge amount of essential nutrients that these seeds contain. Chia seeds are especially high in manganese and phosphorus, but they also have large amounts of magnesium, calcium, iron, zinc, vitamins B1 and B3, and Omega-3 fatty acids. Like the flaxseeds, chia seeds can also help prevent heart diseases.
