There are many studies done on curcumin, showing that it has the ability to lower the risk of cancer, Alzheimer`s disease, liver damage, and cerebrovascular dysfunction.

15 Ways To Add Turmeric To Your Life

1. Fortify Your Soup

Adding a few dashes of turmeric to your soup adds a nice color, doesn’t change its flavor, and may help you overcome a cold.

2. Brew Turmeric Tea

Bring a cup of water to boil and then add ¼ teaspoon of fresh grated turmeric or ground turmeric. Simmer for about ten minutes and strain prior consumption. Feel free to add some lemon or honey for added flavor.

3. Season Roasted Veggies

Toss some vegetables, such as cauliflower, Brussels sprouts, or diced potatoes, with a dash of turmeric and olive oil. Roast for a while, tossing once until done.

4. Add to Smoothies and Juices

Add a few dashes of ground turmeric or 1-2 inches of raw fresh turmeric to your smoothies. Even though it may change the color of the smoothie, it will add an amazing flavor to it as well. Dissolve it into a bit of coconut oil before blending to increase its absorption or blend ½ an avocado for some fat.

5. Stir Up a Curry Powder

The best way to consume turmeric is in dishes with some fat, curry powder, and a lot of black pepper, as it has been shown that they increase its bioavailability. To prepare a basic curry powder, you will need 8 parts ground coriander, 4 parts ground cumin and 1 part of turmeric and cayenne. If you don’t like it spicy, feel free to reduce cayenne and use paprika instead. Store this in a glass container for up to 6 months.

6. Homemade Mustard

To make your own homemade mustard, mix up basic mustard with 2 tablespoons white wine vinegar, 1 tablespoon water, ½ cup ground mustard, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon turmeric. Store in a glass jar and keep refrigerated.

7. Healthy Side Dish

To prepare a quick side dish, sauté some fresh greens, such as spinach or kale, in some turmeric and olive oil. You can also add a dash of sea salt and fresh garlic.

8. Sprinkle on an Avocado

By sprinkling some turmeric onto an avocado gives you an amazing snack which is full of fiber and fat, allowing you to stay away from unhealthy snacks. You can also mash avocado and mix in some ground turmeric, a dash of black pepper, a dash of sea salt, and spread it on cakes or brown rice crackers. Both variations are delicious!

9. Drink Golden Milk

Golden milk is basically a turmeric paste combined with warm milk and oil or ghee. To prepare the paste, bring ½ filtered water to a simmer and then stir in ¼ cup of ground turmeric. Stir constantly to create a thick paste.  For the milk, mix ½ of turmeric paste into a 1 cup of milk (dairy, goat, nut, oat) and cook over medium-low heat for about five minutes. Finally, add ½ ghee or coconut milk as well as cinnamon, honey, black pepper, ginger, maple syrup, to taste.

10. Top Your Salad with it

Sprinkle some turmeric on your salad or blend in into some salad dressing. To make a quick turmeric salad dressing, whisk ½ teaspoon ground turmeric, the juice of ½ a lemon, 1 tablespoon olive oil, 2 teaspoons ACV, 2 teaspoons miso paste, and 1 tablespoon raw honey.

11. Add Color to Boring Dishes

Even though it doesn’t add much flavor, turmeric adds color to dishes. Stir a dash of it into mashed potatoes, eggs, quinoa, or plain basmati rice for added color.

12. Make Natural Food Coloring

Instead of using artificial dyes, you should start using turmeric. Just boil some water, add turmeric and boil for a couple of minutes more. Let it cool and store in glass jar. You can even use it to dye Easter eggs. When you have turmeric, there is no reason to bake with artificial dyes like Yellow #5 and Yellow #6 anymore!

13. Mix up a Cold Remedy

Given the fact that turmeric boosts immunity and fights viruses, it can be used to make natural remedies. To prepare Golden Honey, mix a tablespoon of powdered turmeric with 7 tablespoons of raw honey. When you need an immunity-boost, just dissolve ½ teaspoon of this mixture in your mouth. Another way to do it is to make some turmeric gummy bears. Make sure you use grass-fed, organic gelatin, as factory-farmed animals were given GMO food, antibiotics, and artificial hormones.

14. Spread it on Your Skin

To reduce inflammation and itching caused by eczema, apply turmeric directly onto the skin. Mix it with some water, apply onto the affected area, let it work for a couple of minutes, and rinse well afterward. You can also use turmeric to relieve swelling and pain of sprained joints. To do so, combine 2 tablespoons turmeric, 1 tablespoon lime juice, and a few drops of water to create a thick paste. Let it work onto the affected area for about 20 minutes and then wash it off.

15. Brush Your Teeth with it

As unbelievable as it seems, turmeric has the ability to whiten your teeth naturally! Dip your toothbrush in a pinch of turmeric, brush your teeth, and let it work for about 3 minutes. Rinse your mouth well and brush once again, using your regular toothpaste. Don’t use this method every day, just when you need to brighten up your smile once in a while.
